What do you see as a good/cost effective upgrade path for this PC.? - hosting z php
Okay, so I began to resolve questions about the GPU for an old PC and not really something, so here is a little more detail.

This is a second machine, and I have a box with double heart running ECDL.
I'm happy about compatibility issues with the mix of old and new parts of concern (especially when it comes to the GPU AGP), so I want to make sure that I am part of the efforts and can do everything I want.
By the way, I run (DDO an MMO LOTRO years). LoweParameter C in every game (except for the viewing distance) well and does not need a higher resolution than 1024 * 768.
Video playback was not high definition, an S-Video would be nice.
I looked at the RAM and I'm not sure can buy all the old DDR400 and paste it into part Memory, "corrective action" sites that I paranoid with phrases like "Your mother is something special, not just RAM work But our guaranteed to work RAM memory. "
Money Marketing, or based on facts?
The card supports 4 GB Dual Channel RAM, but I think 2GB should be sufficient. Thoughts? RAM recommended?
Ok, so minimal. The budget is less than $ 250 (Australia). I want less, if possible, spend, but it's a real balanceancing act.
I have my minimum.
Of course, nothing is more pleasant (if in the budget).

Well, to answer your questions one by one. To the "question" a great AGP graphics card and maybe even 512 MB of RAM, it would make sense to update all on the computer. More and more a waste of money.
It is an AGP 4x, which could lead to problems if there is an AGP 8x graphics card true. Make sure that your video card supports AGP 4x to buy.
Believe it or not, computers are very old (ca. 1990) can not run things in HD. "HD" simply means that a resolution can display at least 720p. If you show your desktop to 1280x960, which is far superior to 720p so it's likely that your computer is already capable of "HD" playback, so there are no worries.
Almost all RAM DDR400must work together. There is always a possibility, RAM strange time to be incompatible with other RAM, or even a motherboard, but if a company says, "this RAM guaranteed work" is probably the marketing fluff. You can guarantee anything. RAM generally not better when paired though.
2Gbs should be more than enough RAM for a Windows XP computer. Windows XP can not make effective use of 2Gbs and can not even get through 3GBs RAM on a 32-bit (which Win XP)
Should be with your budget, you may pay a premium of 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM and a departure from the PGA. That's all you need.
